A ruled-paper planner page with blocks for deep work, planning, re-planning, and shutdown.

A web version of Cal Newport’s Time-Block Planner. You give every hour of the day a job in a column of time blocks. When the day goes off-plan, you don’t abandon it; you re-plan. The current column freezes as a record and a fresh one opens from now, the same way the paper notebook works.

What it does

  • Block out the day by dragging on the grid, with your Google Calendar meetings already in place.
  • Re-plan as many times as the day needs. The old plans stay visible, so the record shows how the day actually went.
  • Shut down at the end of the day: close out open tasks and carry the rest to tomorrow.
  • Work without an account. Everything stays in your browser until you sign in to sync across devices.
  • Plan with Claude. The planner is an MCP server, so an assistant can read your day, add tasks, and schedule blocks under the same rules the app follows.

Updates

The planner is now an MCP server

You can now connect Time-Block Planner to Claude as a custom connector. An assistant can read your day and week, add tasks, and schedule blocks, and its edits follow the same rules as the app: they go to the current plan, never to earlier ones, and calendar meetings stay put. Sync also got smarter, merging edits from different devices instead of letting the newest copy win.
